Sunny Side Mall Kokura

Overview

In 2007, “The Mall Kokura”, a regional retail center anchored by Seiyu-Walmart in Kita-Kyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture was acquired.

Upon expiration of the lease with Seiyu-Walmart, APL carried out a full-scale one-year repositioning of the center from big-box retail to a multi-tenant destination, including significant renovations and lease-up of more than 100 tenants. The asset was rebranded as “Sunny Side Mall Kokura” and the grand opening was held in September 2016. The project received accolades from the real estate finance and retail industries as a successful and unprecedented big-box retail revitalization project.
